The Nasaucoko Old Mine Site prospect is located about 35kms east of Nadi City . The manganese mineralisation in this area is controlled by a major fracture called the Nasaucoko Fault which throws finely bedded calcareous sediments and minor volcaniclastic beds of the Nabu Formation against coarse volcaniclastic breccias and sediments of the overlying Navosa Sedimentary Group.
The deposits of the main open cut are developed in the Nabu sediments in the Nasaucoko Fault zone which at the mine is several hundred metres wide and dip 70 degrees ESE. Most of the minor manganese occurrences are found lower in the stratigraphy i.e. within the dacitic volcanics of the Kalaka dacite but strung out along a line parallel to the Nasaucoko Fault zone.
